Exercise and Mental Wellbeing
Written By: Coach MJDid you know that when we keep active with exercise it not only improves our physical health but our mental health as well?
How often we heard or said:
- I don’t think I can do that
- I’m too old to be starting an exercise program
- I have chronic pain from ...fill in the blank
- I will get to it after I get this fixed (hips, knees, shoulder…)
It’s too easy to give in when our bodies start to change and life gets more challenging. We can take the easy way out and let nature take its course, and sit around comparing all our aches and pains to see who is worse off. When we sit back, many times our mental health takes a dive too.
Not everyone will experience severe depression or stress but it does happen to various degrees when we give in to the aches and pains life hands us.
Does this sound familiar? Are we feeling like life has seen better days and we are just sitting back taking it? OR we being proactive and taking charge of our lives?
A good effective fitness program does not mean we have to work till it hurts or we break out in a heavy sweat, or maybe not every time! Finding a gym that works with you and your abilities and skills is a great way to help you feel secure and safe in the movements.
Our Wellness Coaching Program at Degree works with you, whether you are new to exercise or returning after a break, to help you in your fitness journey. Movements are adapted to your strengths and abilities to build stronger bodies which in turn helps keep our minds strong.
